Katy Perry has fuelled rumours of a feud with fellow pop star Taylor Swift by posting a cryptic message about a bully on her Twitter page.
Swift threw fans into a frenzy this week when she revealed her new song Bad Blood is about a female rival in the music industry, accusing the unnamed singer of attempting to sabotage her tour and branding her a "straight-up enemy".
The revelation sparked rumours that Perry is the song's subject, and the Firework hitmaker has stoked the controversy by posting a cryptic message about a bully on her Twitter page, prompting speculation it is a response to the online gossip.
In the message, Perry references Rachel McAdams' bully character Regina George from 2004 teen movie Mean Girls, writing, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
Backup dancer confirms the feud
Australian dancer Lockhart Brownlie may just know the identity of Taylor Swift's mystery rival.
Swift this week opened up about the lyrics to her song Bad Blood from her 1989 album and revealed the track is about an unnamed pop rival, who pretended to be her friend and then "tried to sabotage an entire arena tour".
"Last year she did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies'... It had to do with business ... She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," Swift told Rolling Stone magazine.
Swift refused to name names, but revealed she now has to avoid her rival.
However Launceston-born dancer Brownlie, who was one of four male back-up dancers for pop sensation Katy Perry and also spent time in 2013 dancing for Swift on her Red Tour, appears to have previously confirm in an interview that Perry is the mystery saboteur.
In an interview with The Examiner last December, Brownlie spoke about working for the two stars.
"I was with Taylor for the first six months (of 2013). It was a great experience and she's a great person to work with, but then Katy contacted us," Brownlie told the Examiner.
Brownlie spent 10 months in 2011 touring with Perry for her California Dreams world tour and said the choice to leave Swift's tour for Perry's Prism promotional tour was easy.
"Obviously we were with Katy for 2 1/2 years, she's like family to us, so we were, like, 'absolutely'," Brownlie said.
"We weren't really dancing in Taylor's tour anyway so I had got a little bored and I really wanted to do a promo tour."
Brownlie also said in the Examiner interview that working with two the different artist was interesting.
"The experiences were completely different," he said.
"Taylor is very untouchable.
"When we did see her, we had so much fun with her, but she's a lot more protected than Katy.
"Katy's 28 now and can do her own thing.
"Her team are so lovely, so we have such a good connection. And this time around she is a lot more in control."
