Game of Thrones is "bringing that Khaleesi heat" ahead of season four with a promotional rap mixtape that features Big Boi, Common, Wale, Bodega Bamz, Daddy Yankee and more.
A pretty bizarre attempt to increase the show's already huge reach, HBO has hired 10 rappers and Latin music artists, who spit over beats made from samples from the show.
Here's some sample verses:
Wale:
I'm tellin' whoever messin' with me / I can bring you that Khaleesi heat
Use my King, knack for words, as an actual sword / I can decapitate a rapper
Common:
I sit and think when I'm in my zone/ This life is like a Game of Thrones
The Catch The Throne mixtape, released today, is targeted at multicultural audiences, who presumably are not able to comprehend Game of Thrones and have been confusing it with The Price Is Right for three seasons.
"Our multicultural audiences are a very important part of our subscribers, and we don't want to take them for granted," said Lucinda Martinez, HBO's senior vice president for multicultural marketing.
Common added to the Wall Street Journal: "Twenty years ago, Wu-Tang was breaking ground. Nowadays, people are open to anything. There are no limitations to hip-hop culture."
Is it possible to rhyme 'Joffrey' with 'swag'? Will there be a verse about escaping gang pressures on The Wall? We'll find out today.
