A new trailer for the upcoming blockbuster Star Trek Into Darkness has increased speculation the film will be linked to the franchise's famous installment The Wrath of Khan.
The two-minute trailer for the JJ Abrams-directed feature starts with a voiceover admonishing Captain Kirk for his arrogance and warning him it will one day lead to the deaths of everyone under his command.
It ends with Benedict Cumberbatch delivering a direct quote from The Wrath of Khan: "Is there anything you would not do for your family?"
Movie sites Totalfilm and Movieline say the line adds to speculation Into Darkness will be a quasi-remake of Khan.
Cumberbatch's character John Harrison is thought to be linked to the tyrant villain from the earlier film.
However, Star Trek Into Darkness co-writer Damon Lindelof has vowed to keep an air of mystery about the role Harrison will play in the movie.
"Our intention is to not tell. We feel that the materials speak for themselves. There's clearly more to him then meets the eye," he told reporters.
Star Trek Into Darkness is set for release in May next year.
It co-stars Chris Pine, Kiwi star Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana.
