TOP GEAR
Having set the bar pretty high for stupid stunts, the presenters of this motoring show plan to raise it a little higher in season 10. Since the end of season nine, presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have dreamt up even more crazy challenges such as attempting to drive through the Kalahari Desert in 20-year-old rustbuckets. The lads also resurrect their homemade amphibious cars for a drive to Dover, followed by an attempt to cross the English Channel. In tonight's series opener, the trio drive a Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston Martin across Europe in search of the best roads. They also find out what happens when you wedge a 12-cylinder Bentley engine into a Volkswagen Golf. And watch out to see if there's a royal wave from the Oscar-winning star of The Queen, Dame Helen Mirren, as she does a lap as the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

INSTINCT
Not one to be typecast, Anthony Flanagan, who played a cop in Cracker and Shameless, stars in this thriller as homicide detective Thomas Flynn. He begins a murder inquiry when the body of a woman is found dumped on waste land. She appears to have been murdered in her bedroom, and suspicion falls on her husband, Ian Stanford (Tom Ward). However, when a second body is found, Flynn begins to realise he may be dealing with a serial killer because each victim is left holding a clue - the date of the murder. Flynn's investigations lead him to Jake (Liam Boyle), the son Ian never knew he had, and to Phil (Michael Hodgson), Jake's father. As the murders continue, Flynn - who is not particularly likable himself - concludes that the killer is performing some sort of ritual and wonders whether the killings are partly being done to get his attention.
