REG. MASTER BUILDERS' HOUSE OF THE YEAR
Time to indulge all those Lotto-winning fantasies as architect Guy Evans takes us on a tour of New Zealand's best-built homes for the year. While the overall winner, which also triumphed in the new homes costing more than $1 million category, might be out of the reach of most, there are some more modest homes such as the Pukekohe residence that won an award for new homes under $250,000. But it's the House of the Year built by JJ Oskam Builders that will provoke pangs of real estate envy. The house in Dunedin's Maori Hill has an opulent finish and luxury features such as an indoor swimming pool connected to the living spaces by a glazed sunroom, a chef's kitchen and an underground wine cellar beneath the grand entry space. There's even a mirrored alcove built specifically to show off the owner's prized Harley Davidson.
