Preacher Season 3 (Lightbox, from today)
After two largely successful seasons, Preacher debuts its third season this week. For those still with it, we'll continue to follow Jesse Custer and his supernatural abilities as he continues his search for god. The finale of season two saw Custer's girlfriend Tulip potentially being killed in a cliffhanger episode, but the gang's also heading towards Custer's ancestral hometown of Angelville. Judging from new promotions from AMC the third season should include much of the high octane action and gore that die-hard fans are hoping for. The Preacher series is perfect for anyone who has read the comic books, even though much of the storyline in the televised version differs from what's in the comics. Preacher's dark sense of humour has been on display throughout the first two seasons, however, the blood and gore of this show mean it isn't for everyone.
True Blood (Neon, from June 25 )
The last True Blood episode aired almost four years ago and for some fans, this has been far too long without the massive vampire drama. Luckily for these fans, Neon is attempting to quench their thirst for blood by releasing all seven seasons this week. For newcomers to the series, it follows female vampire Sookie Stackhouse - played with delicious venom by Anna Paquin - doubling as a waitress in a small Louisiana town. The story follows vampires and other mythical creatures coexisting with humans after the invention of synthetic blood allows them to live without feeding on humans. Mmm.
Mindy Kaling's Champions (Netflix)
Critically acclaimed actress/comedian Mindy Kaling brings her new NBC comedy sitcom to Netflix this week. The show follows the life of Michael Patel, a gay theatre kid who has moved to New York to live with his dad and attend theatre school, however, his father barely knows he existed until he showed up on his doorstep. The show has received mixed reviews: Variety called it "too disjointed to be a complete success". But Kaling's a solid chuckle creator, making Champions a good choice for anyone in need of a laugh.
Come Home (TVNZ On Demand)
This Irish drama from the BBC shows a turbulent family life in which Greg Farrell's wife, and mother to his three children, inexplicably packs up and leaves with no explanation. The show presents gut-wrenching drama as kids are thrown into a feud of adults who can't seem to get their affairs in order. The show has also caused outrage in the UK because of a graphic scene with a teenage girl, proving this three-parter is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Lucifer (Amazon Prime Video)
Lucifer the original Lord of Hell, who became bored of his life in the underworld, decides to retire to Los Angeles in this comic book adaptation. After being cancelled by Fox this week the DC production was too good for Netflix to pass up, who renewed it for a fourth season. Lucifer and his job at the LAPD make the series a crime-solving drama with a side of Satan. With details emerging on the fourth season, now is the perfect time to settle down and binge all three seasons that are alrady available.
