Whanganui's annual Christmas parade is just weeks away but there's still time to be part of the fun.
"There are many fantastic community floats already entered and it should be a cracker of a day," Mainstreet Whanganui events manager Kelly Scarrow says.
"But there's still time to enter more floats.
"Mainstreet is offering prize money for winning entries in each category to acknowledge the hard work that goes into them."
Scarrow says the categories are unchanged from previous years and there will be a $200 prize for each of the best vehicle and walking entries as well as one for best costumes.
"The parade is a reflection of Christmas in our community and an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the festive season.
"We are actively encouraging all entrants to go all out in dressing their floats.
"We want a visual Christmas spectacular."
The parade will be followed by a free after-party at Majestic Square.
"We want to continue the celebrations and give children the opportunity to see a bit more of Santa by encouraging the crowds to stick around and take part in the entertainment and lolly scramble," says Scarrow.
Float entries close on Friday, November 30. Entry forms are available on the Mainstreet Whanganui website: mainstreetwhanganui.co.nz, or at Mainstreet offices, 36 Ridgway St or email kelly@mainstreetwhanganui.co.nz.
