Inshore waters from Lyttelton Harbour to the Waimakariri River mouth.
A high to the southeast of the country extends a ridge across central New Zealand, directing easterlies to the upper North Island and northerlies to the lower South Island. A complex trough moves north over the South Island today,then spreads north towards central New Zealand on Thursday and becomes slow moving. A front moves slowly eastwards across the North Island during Friday and Saturday, while a northeast flow becomes established over the South Island.
