Financial problems faced by Australian clothing chain Hound Dog are unlikely to affect the seven New Zealand stores trading under the same name.
In Australia, the 21-store Sydney-based firm has debts of $A4.3 million ($5.3 million). It has called in an administrator to sort out its woes.
The administrator, RonDean-Willcocks, said the only connection with the New Zealand Hound Dog stores was that they bought stock from the Australian operation.
Mr Dean-Willcocks said he was confident that the Australian business could be salvaged, and that distribution to New Zealand would continue.
Hound Dog, which sells surf and casual clothing, has stores in Newmarket, St Lukes, Henderson, Wellington, Porirua, Christchurch and Dunedin.
Wellington-based director Leo Quintus said it was business as usual at the New Zealand stores.
