Oil prices held steady near US$47 ($71) a barrel yesterday in Asian trading, a day after striking another record peak as US inflation stayed in check despite scorching energy costs.
US light crude oil for September rose as much as US93c to US$46.95 on Tuesday, the highest in the 21-year history of the New York Mercantile Exchange contract.
In London, North Sea Brent shed US18c to US$42.81 a barrel yesterday.
