Tauranga-based avocado oil business Avocado Oil New Zealand says its latest British distribution deal points to the enormous potential for exports of its product.
The company, established 2-1/2 years ago, said its gourmet cold pressed avocado oil The Grove would now be sold in 250 Safeway supermarkets across Britain.
In a deal established in November last year, the company's oil is also sold in 200 of Britain's largest supermarket chain Tesco's outlets.
About 25,000 bottles of the company's oil worth close to $325,000 would shortly arrive in Britain for sale in Safeway and Tesco supermarkets.
Avocado Oil NZ spokeswoman Elizabeth Carter said the latest deal indicated the international potential for the flavoursome, low cholesterol oil was enormous.
The company also sells the Heart Foundation-approved oil in Australia the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
