More than 200 Bay of Plenty meat workers have been locked out of Affco's Rangiuru plant, in the latest action following a breakdown in negotiations for a collective agreement.

Last week 750 meat workers were indefinitely locked out of the Moerewa, Horotiu, Feilding, Wanganui and Wairoa plants.

About 700 union members were not locked out, but on Friday they staged a 24-hour strike in solidarity for those who were locked out.

Then from 5am today another 213 workers were locked out of the previously unaffected Rangiuru plant in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand Meat Workers Union national secretary Dave Eastlake said.
