Unbelieving sister mourns writer

Alix Robinson's death has devastated her colleagues.

The sister of a young woman who was struck and killed by a car in central Wellington has described her as "beautiful" and talented.

Alix Rae Robinson, 24, died after being hit by a car on Vivian St at 1.30am on Sunday.

Miss Robinson was a creative writer at The Radio Network.

She attended Tauranga Girls' College and later studied advertising at Massey University in Wellington.

Ms Robinson's sister, Kristy Robinson, paid tribute to her on Facebook. "My beautiful, talented, successful, intelligent, lovely sister Alix Robinson ... I can't believe you're gone ... so shockingly ... so tragically. It just doesn't seem real."

Miss Robinson's boss, Radio Network Wellington general manager Rhys Nimmo, said she was a "lovely girl".

"She didn't have a cross word to say about anybody," he said.

"Everybody loved Alix."

Her colleagues were devastated, Mr Nimmo said.

"She was a much-loved and very present in our work environment, so it has been a huge shock ..."

Miss Robinson attended Tauranga Girls' College, was an underwater hockey representative and a keen musician and singer.

A service will be held at the Tauranga Yacht Club on Thursday at 1pm. The family has asked for privacy.

Police said the serious crash unit would continue its investigation. They said the driver of the vehicle was helping with their inquiries.
