Name: Mandy Logan.
Age: 41.
Location: Tauranga Beauty Therapy, Brookfield, Tauranga.
What is your job? Business owner/beauty therapist.
How long have you been working here? Approximately a year.
Why did you get into it? I wanted to be at home for the kids. I always wanted to do something like beauty or hairdressing.
What's your favourite
part of the job? The people you meet. I love listening to their stories and where they're from.
What were you doing before this? Working for my ex-husband doing the office work at Logan Elevators.
What was your most memorable or embarrassing day? When I went to do a bikini wax and she wanted a thigh wax. Then I had to even the other side up. She had a great sense of humour, thank goodness.
Number of employees? Three.
Tell us about your workmates: They are absolutely amazing. Fantastic with clients, easy to work with and trained at BOP Polytech, so they have the best skills behind them.
How do you go the extra mile for your customers? If they're in for an eyebrow shape and we are not too busy we do little things like blackhead removal, red vein treatment or a tint through the eyebrows for no extra charge.
What do you do after work to unwind? We are open from 8am until 9pm, 7 days a week. My other half, Pete and I have 7 children between us so there's no spare time.
What does the future hold for you? We want to expand to a larger premises by next year, to have a hairdresser on hand for special occasions, hair-ups and colours and we want to introduce IPL, Botox and cosmetic tattooing. But we want to keep our low prices. Where else in the Bay can you get and eyelash and brow tint and shape for $15?
