Creative Tauranga Chief Executive Tracey Rudduck-Gudsell has announced her resignation today after eleven years of service to the creative communities in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.
"Tracey has grown Creative Tauranga into a significant umbrella organisation for the creative communities of the Western Bay of Plenty," saidGrant Sowter, Chairman of the Board of Creative Tauranga.
"She has poured her heart and soul into the job and her optimism and enthusiasm have been infectious. Apart from the obvious and highly visible Hairy Maclary sculptures, Tracey has been a driving force behind many other significant creative initiatives in the City including the spectacular Tarnished Frocks and Divas." he said.
Mrs Rudduck-Gudsell said that while the Hairy Maclary Sculpture project has been a significant highlight, it was also an enormous challenge.
"Having achieved what many did not consider possible, I think it is a good time for me to move on. I have young children and some other opportunities I'd like to explore," she said.
"I will continue to support the arts community in the future however I can. I have so many great memories and will look forward to my ongoing relationship with the team at Creative Tauranga through this time of transition."
Mr Sowter said with the successful installation of the Hairy Maclary sculptures on the Tauranga waterfront, a significant milestone in the history of Creative Tauranga had been reached.
"This is a significant achievement for Tracey and the Board thanks her for her enormous contribution to the organisation and to the creative sector in the Western Bay," Mr Sowter said.
"The sector and Creative Tauranga have grown up significantly during Tracey's time at the helm and she can take a fair share of the credit for that. Tracey has chosen this time to announce her resignation from her position effective at the end of August."
An advertisement for the position of Chief Executive Creative Tauranga will be placed in the near future.
