A Tauranga couple are searching for a kind stranger who helped make sure they would never forget their engagement.
Adrian Reid, 28, had just dropped to one knee and popped the question to girlfriend of seven years Kerrie Ford, 22, when a stranger rounded the corner and offered to take a photo for them.
The pair gladly took him up on the offer, but were so caught up in the moment they forgot to thank him.
They are now hoping to find the mystery man who left them with a priceless memory of their special night.
'We're just trying to track him down to say a proper thank you since we were all caught up in the buzz," he said.
The couple had planned to have a romantic picnic to celebrate their anniversary on Saturday afternoon but ended up going out for a coffee and a walk around Mauao.
They were about three-quarters of the way around the Mauao base track when Mr Reid proposed.
The man, who was in his 60s or 70s, came across the couple just seconds after Miss Ford had accepted his offer of marriage.
"He just said, 'did she say yes?' He just said 'congratulations' and offered to take a couple of photos," Mr Reid said.
Mr Reid said the wedding would probably be in two years to give their family time to save for the trip from England.
