A Waihi Beach holiday park is in the running for the AA Traveller Spirit of Hospitality Award after it was announced as a finalist.

Bowentown Beach Holiday Park has been selected as one of five holiday parks from across New Zealand.

The award recognises and celebrates the effort put in by the people who provide the experiences at New Zealand holiday parks.

"Energy and enthusiasm can be the difference between providing good service and exceptional service," an AA spokesperson said.

AA Traveller National Sales Manager Lynne Graham said providing great hospitality was an essential ingredient for any accommodation provider.

"Great hospitality can be the icing on the cake when it comes to exceeding guests' expectations and it's heart-warming to see just how much commitment entrants for the award this year have made to ensure they provide top service," she said.

The other four finalists are All Seasons Holiday Park Rotorua, Aspiring Holiday Park and Motels in Wanaka, Mawley Holiday Park in Masterton and Mercury Bay Holiday Park in Whitianga.

"I congratulate each of the finalists on setting the bar as high as they have. It is entirely possible for any of the finalists to take home the award so it is going to be difficult to select a winner," Ms Graham said.

The winner of the AA Traveller Spirit of Hospitality Award will be announced on Wednesday, June 25 at the HAPNZ Conference in Blenheim.

The judging panel was made up of representatives from the AA and AA Traveller, Qualmark, HAPNZ and Inside Tourism.
