Tauranga musicians and choirs are organising a concert to fundraise for victims Christchurch mosque shootings.
Two performances of the Rutter Requiem are being rehearsed at the St Peter's Anglican Church, ahead of concerts at 7.30pm this Saturday and 1.30pm on Sunday.
"The only thing that I can do as a musician is make music - and hope that the beauty I find within can reach the souls of others" organist and choirmaster Chalium Poppy said.
"It is my desire to offer not so much a performance but a musical memorial and reflection for any members of our community seeking something beautiful in this time of horror and tragedy."
John Rutter's Requiem is about how refuge and rest can come from faith in times of crisis.
The performances will be free, but attendees will have the opportunity to donate to the
"Our People, Our City" fund set up by the Christchurch Foundation at the request of their mayor Lianne Dalziel.
