Tauranga's Sam Pulis will be among New Zealand's top 10 carpentry apprentices putting their skills to the test when they undertake a six-hour practical challenge on Friday.
Pulis, 23, who is employed by Gudsell Designer Homes Limited, was named 2018 Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders Carters' Apprentice of the Year in September.
He beat nine other contestants to take the regional title.
The judges will be watching closely as the regional finalists' compete to become the Registered Master Builders CARTERS 2018 Apprentice of the Year.
The competition winner will be announced on Friday night, at a gala dinner hosted by Mike Puru.
This year the competition will be running alongside the Auckland Build Expo, an event which hosts a range of the constructions sector's industry professionals and leaders.
Key representatives from the building and construction industry will be attending to support the apprentices as they begin to make their mark on the industry.
