A new radio station is set to launch in Tauranga.

As a result of the changing demographics of audiences in New Zealand, NZME, which also publishes the Bay of Plenty Times, has taken a fresh look at their portfolio of stations within each market.

Here in Tauranga, this means launching a new station. From tomorrow, MIX will broadcast on 99FM, replacing Flava.

MIX fuses classic bangers from the 70s, 80s and 90s, hosted by Mel Homer.

Content director David Brice said: "MIX has been a real audience success story in other regional locations such as Northland and Nelson, and we hope to replicate that success in Tauranga".

MIX host Mel Homer started her radio career in Tauranga and was happy to be heard in the Bay again.

Homer said: "MIX listeners become passionate fans of the station and it's a real 'at work' favourite with listeners".

Flava will continue to be available to listen to at flava.co.nz or on iHeartRadio. Listeners can also stay up to date with the latest from Flava on social media.
