MetService duty forecaster Jasmine Kennedy said it would be fine in northern and eastern parts of the North Island with temperatures sitting in the early 20s.

MetService had issued a heavy rain warning for Fiordland, Westland and Southland with rain gradually spreading up both sides of the South Island today.
Christchurch would enjoy a warm and mainly fine 24C day while Dunedin would hit 20C but be cloudy.
