The giant rainbow from Rainbow's End is touring the country - stopping in at Tauranga today.
Rainbow's End is developing a brand new front gate and has removed its 30-year-old iconic rainbow to make way for a brand new look and feel to their entranceway.
The rainbow has welcomed in millions of visitors over the years and Rainbow's End wanted to find somewhere to re-home the rainbow where it could continue providing joy for many more years.
The team at Rainbow's End decided a road trip through the North Island would be the best way to find a new home.
The 'Re-Home the Rainbow Road Tour' kicked off last Monday in Manukau before hitting the open road up to Dargaville, then heading down to Taupo stopping at various towns and tourist hotspots along the way.
At 2pm today, the rainbow will arrive in Tauranga, stopping off at Countdown Tauranga on Cameron Rd for the public to meet the team as they travel, get photos taken and be in to win instant prizes.
A competition is running to submit your ideas for where the rainbow should reside, they can be weird, whacky or serious suggestions.
The competition can be entered at www.rainbowsend.co.nz and is open to everyone throughout New Zealand. Entrants must upload a photo and insert the supplied rainbow over the top.
Winners will be announced on the October 9 and there are three prize packages up for grabs for a winner and 20 family and friends to visit Rainbow's End.
