Two Bay of Plenty men charged with firearm offences after police responded to a number of reports of shots being fired in Papamoa last night have been freed on court bail.
Jesse Waenga, 28, of Opotiki faced charges of unlawfully carrying or possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm near a dwelling, and possession of cannabis, when he appeared in
a Tauranga Court today.
Waenga, who was bailed subject to conditions by a Tauranga Court registrar, will next appear in the Tauranga Registrar's Court on December 15.
Opotiki teenager Rory Williams, 17, who also faces a charge of unlawfully carrying or possessing a firearm, was remanded on bail.
He is also due to re-appear in the same court on the same date. Both men are yet to enter pleas to their charges.
