Bay of Plenty community funder BayTrust manager of 16 years will retire at the end of the year, it was today announced.
Bruce Cronin held the trust manager position since 1997 which has been disestablished and a new position of Chief Executive has been created as part of the restructure.
Announcing the move today, trust chair Jenny Mahoney said, "The Trust, which celebrated its 25th birthday last year, has just completed stage one of its first major organisational review and confirmed its course ahead."
"Bruce has indicated that the new role does not interest him and he will retire with the Trust's very best wishes, having completed 18 years of service," she said.
"We are very sorry to see Bruce go," she added, "and our discussions have been constructive and amicable. Bruce and I are 100% committed to achieving a smooth transition."
Commenting on the announcement, Bruce Cronin said the time was right for him to retire.
"I will finish duty on Friday 12 December having completed 18 years' service, I will celebrate my 67th birthday on Sunday 14 December and my wife Maureen and I are looking forward to a major overseas trip next year."
"The Trust has some interesting times ahead of it and although I will certainly miss the organisation and its people, I won't lose all my Community connections and I am certainly looking forward to some more free time," he said.
The new role of Chief Executive will be advertised shortly.
