The Western Bay of Plenty has failed to escape the wet weather, as rain is set to return for most of the week.
From today, rain is predicted to fall until Friday. However, MetService forecaster John Law said the worst of the rain should have fallen overnight and was likely to clear by mid-morning today, leaving the region with showers and cooler temperatures. "Last week, we found it [the rain band] sat over us for a lot of the time and it was pretty slow moving. But this one, will move on pretty quickly. Already we have a lot of rain for overnight that should clear away in the morning.
"Over the next couple of days what we are really looking at is showers."
Temperatures are predicted to reach a maximum of 19C today and 16C tomorrow and Thursday but Mr Law said people might want to rug up as strong winds brought the chill.
"Keep an eye on the temperatures, particularly overnight. It will feel cool with the southerly winds."Kiri Gillespie
