A 12-year-old boy was flown to Tauranga Hospital with burn injuries after a camping accident with boiling water.
The boy had been camping with family and friends at Waitawheta Hut in the Kaimai Ranges on Friday night.
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched about 10pm to the hut.
He had been cooking when he accidentally poured boiling water onto himself.

The rescue helicopter St John paramedic was able to stabilise the boy on scene and he was then airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
