A brand new $20,000 Fiat 500 and a $8000 Kubota ride-on mower are just two of the 130 items going under the hammer at this year's Tauranga Police CIB Charitable Trust charity luncheon.
The proceeds from the 19th annual event, which is being held on September 27 at ASB Baypark Arena, will go to seven Western Bay charities.
The two major recipients are the Foundation for Youth Development Bay of Plenty and Tauranga Coastguard.
Aimed at reducing youth crime, Foundation for Youth Development BOP delivers life-skills programmes such as Project K and Kiwi Can, to 2200 young people a week.
The other five are Te Puke Community Trust, Welcome Bay Community Trust, Beachhaven Community Centre, Special Olympics, and Papamoa Surf Club.
The car was donated by Farmers Auto Village, Mount Maunganui which is also offering a three-year servicing contract worth $1000 to the successful registered online bidder.
The ride-on mower was donated by Kubota New Zealand.
Trustee and charity auction organiser Detective Sergeant Pete Blackwell said the charity luncheon was a sold-out affair with almost 1300 people set to attend.
"Once again this event has been very well supported with some amazing quality items being donated not just from locals but supporters and sponsors from all around New Zealand," he said.
Mr Blackwell said if anyone was in a position to make a cash donation they should email him at info@police.charity.co.nz
The auction had raised $1.7 million since it started in 1994.
