If you want to save money and make healthier choices then ditch your car and support World Car Free Day.
The annual event is celebrated on September 22 across the globe, and people are encouraged to walk, cycle, bus, skate and use other alternatives to get to work.
But people in the Bay are being encouraged to go a week without their vehicles.
People who show their bus ticket or helmet at Bravo, in Red Square, any time from September 17-23 can get a coffee for $2.
Cafes in Rotorua and Whakatane are also rewarding their car-free customers with the same deal.
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council are supporting the cause and challenging locals to get around without their car.
BOPRC Public Transport Subcommittee chairman Doug Owens said the council hoped people would be inventive with alternative travel arrangements, and extend their commitment to a week without a car.
"We want people to think about the whole week and see whether they can change how they travel more than once during the week 17 to 23 September,'' Mr Owens said.
"Whether you look at using our Bay Hopper or City Ride buses for a day, or make the most of the warmer spring mornings and walk or cycle, we encourage you to give it a go.''
Mr Owens said carpooling was also an option.
"By carpooling you can not only save on petrol costs but it's also a great way to meet new people,'' he said.
World Car Free Day is recognised in more than 40 countries and 1000 cities.
