Brendan Steve Allan, accused of phoning in a bomb hoax at the city council hall before robbing a bank at knifepoint for $900, briefly appeared in the Tauranga District Court yesterday.
Allan, 30, of no fixed abode, is yet to enter a plea for the aggravated robbery charge.
Police opposed bail and lawyer Rita Nabney, acting as agent for Allan's counsel Bill Nabney, told Judge Tom Everett the defendant consented to a remand in custody.
Allan is to reappear on Wednesday.
