Mrs Fagan, of Bay Palm Motel in Mt Maunganui, said her motel was already "completely booked out'' for next year's AIMS GAMES tournament.
This year, more than 6000 athletes from 166 schools competed in the NZCT Aims Games tournament and about 1,200 more coaches, managers and supporters were involved.
This has grown from 4600 athletes from 121 schools last year.
The NZCT AIMS GAMES Tournament is now one of New Zealand's largest sporting events.
Tauranga Chamber of Commerce CEO Max Mason said Tauranga benefits from the AIMS Games directly because it brings in substantial income to our hard pressed business community at a lean time of the year.
"Additionally there are indirect benefits from the 9,000 visitors annually who will always remember their experience here, and associate Tauranga with a hugely important aspect of life, and that's healthy, positive kids achieving success in sport."
"However we should be aware that success breeds envy and other cities would love to have this event as their own. Our whole community needs to back the organisers in every possible way to ensure it stays where it belongs."
Organisers of the tournament were "absolutely thrilled'' with the week of sporting events.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2012 NZCT AIMS GAMES experience,'' said tournament director Vicki Semple.
"The spectacular opening ceremony set the scene for the whole week with energetic performances and inspirational guest speakers. The spirit at each code venue has been welcoming, positive and competitive with all 16 sports superbly organised and ran to a very high standard.''
"The talent and sportsmanship blows me away.''
She said it was exciting to have a number of Australian visitors attend the competition and she hoped it would continue to grow next year.
"I feel privileged to be a part of such an amazing event and I'm already looking forward to 2013.''
