Baycourt is bringing the arts to the people withe the Arts On Tour NZ Trust - a collection of shows to be held at various locations in Tauranga.

Every year the touring agency Arts on Tour NZ Trust send some of the best Kiwi actors and musicians to perform at smaller centres across Aotearoa. Seven diverse, high-quality and enthralling shows are set to blaze the stages at Tauranga's Baycourt X Space, The Historic Village Hall and 16th Ave Theatre, from March 31 to November 23.

The choices range from madcap musical theatre to Shakespearean tragedy, laugh-out-loud drama to music, plus a deadly circus act and a magic show for kids, Baycourt Presents Arts on Tour NZ in Tauranga is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some of New Zealand's best performing arts right here.

Of the seven shows, two will be performed at The Historic Village (The Messy Magic Show, Seven Deadly Stunts), three at 16th Ave Theatre (Olive Copperbottom, Seed, No Holds Bard), and two in the Baycourt X Space (Hopetoun Brown and the genius of Finn Scholes, Adam McGrath and The Roaring Days).

Baycourt manager Megan Peacock Coyle said they are ''over the moon'' to be partnering with The Historic Village and 16th Ave Theatre to deliver the seven Arts on Tour NZ shows in Tauranga this year.

"The performing arts are meant to be shared and that is why collaborating with The Historic Village and 16th Ave Theatre is so exciting. It's great to be working with other venues who share Baycourt's passion for the performing arts," Megan says.

"Arts on Tour NZ in Tauranga aims to deliver the highest quality Kiwi-made shows direct to peoples' doorsteps in order to make them accessible to everyone, and this collaboration will certainly help us achieve that goal."

Because Baycourt presents are bringing the works to Tauranga, keeping prices affordable for patrons was a top priority and tickets range from $15 to $24.90 (plus booking fees) for all seven shows.

On top of this, Baycourt's also created two very special ticket deals to give people more bang for their buck – the Go Fourth & Prosper deal (buy tickets to three shows and choose a fourth show for free) and the Six Show Stunner (buy tickets to six shows for $99 plus booking fees – or $16.50 per show). Conditions apply.

"This year we have some of the finest Kiwi actors, musicians and performers coming to Tauranga to entertain us.

All of these performers are award-winners in their individual fields who've stunned and wowed audiences up and down Aotearoa for many years, and all of these shows are worth the price of admission and much, much more.''

Historic Village manager Blair Graham said having seven Kiwi-made shows of such a high calibre come to Tauranga is something quite special.

"We're excited to be working closely with Baycourt Presents to host these two fantastic shows here in the village's hall, and we're really thrilled people will also have the opportunity to see what The Historic Village has to offer as part of this tour."

16th Ave Theatre President Sarah Oemcke said 2018 promises to be an exciting year for theatre in Tauranga.

"16th Ave Theatre is proud to be working with Baycourt to host three of the seven Arts on Tour productions coming to Tauranga this year. We love that Tauranga is expanding its cultural offering and providing an exciting programme of performances."
