Women's fashion and homeware retailer EziBuy will open a store in Tauranga in July.
It will be its first new retail store since 2014 and the first Bay of Plenty location since 2010, when its previous shop closed on Elizabeth St in downtown Tauranga.
The new store will be located at Tauranga Crossing in Tauriko as part of Stage One of the growing centre.
EziBuy chief executive Bert van der Velde said the company had chosen to expand into Tauranga because of its location, EziBuy's active customer base in the area and the opportunity to be part of a "state-of-the-art retail centre".
He said the ample parking at Tauranga Crossing as well as other amenities in the centre would also complement EziBuy's target consumer.
The company hoped to attract new customers with a physical presence in the area.
The new EziBuy store will be 800sq m in size and will employ more than 15 fulltime staff.
It is the retailer's sixth store in New Zealand, and it will stock both women's fashion and homeware products.
Tauranga Crossing chief executive Steve Lewis said the centre was pleased EziBuy had joined the likes of Pak'nSave, The Warehouse, Noel Leeming, Farmers and Event Cinemas.
"EziBuy is an excellent, multi-channel retailer, with both bricks and mortar stores and a strong digital online presence. Their apparel and homeware offering will enhance our range of retailers and strengthens Tauranga Crossing as a retail destination – they are a great fit for Tauranga Crossing."
He said the store would be popular with residents in the area.
Tauranga Crossing had other international, national and local retailers opening in Stage Two by next April, Lewis said.
He said the centre was engaged with many other new retailers as well.
"Tauranga is the fastest-growing regional economy in New Zealand, and we are accommodating retailer demand for quality shopping centre space."
The other five EziBuy stores are located in Albany and Sylvia Park in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch.
