Mike and Linda Lainchbury have done it again and won gold in their divisions of outdoor compound field archery in Germany.
The husband and wife from Hobsonville also won the World Indoor Championships in Argentina last October to become two time World Champions in 12 months.
Over 700 competitors were in Dahn, Germany for the World Field Archery Champs and competed on some of the hardest courses in the world.
Linda also broke two New Zealand records, adding to her list of 21 records in both target archery (which is featuring this year at the Commonwealth Games) and field archery. Mike holds 16 New Zealand field archery records.
In the last two years, Linda has competed in three world championships and brought home a silver, and two golds. Mike has won three golds, one for indoor archery, one at the 2008 World Field Archery Championships in Africa and again successfully defending his title in Germany 2010.
Field archery is cross country form of the sport, requiring a combination of fitness, stamina, mental strength and the ability to execute perfect shots in extreme conditions.
Shooting for up to nine hours per day, on steep terrain over five days, Linda and Mike are thrilled to take the titles and hold up the New Zealand flag on the podium again for their country.
