LETTER: Daycare dilemma

I read with interest the article regarding the proposed Childcare Centre in Onehunga. I was most surprised this small group of local residents "don't like the idea".
I can think of several residences close to my home who create a lot more noise and a lot more traffic than a childcare centre and that's on weekdays, weekends and evenings.
The centre that my three children have attended is open weekdays between 8am and 5.30pm when most neighbours are not at home and children are never dropped off andpicked up "in a flurry". I have only seen three leaving at a time and would not consider that a flurry.
On any one day a couple of children would be sick or away and the rest dropped off and picked up at various times. This is not a proposed school with fixed hours. Hence there would be no flurries which seems to be the major issue. I would be most confident that the "unkempt property" will be wonderfully improved by this centre and the surrounding pre-schoolers delighted with its arrival.
