Area Description:

Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

Situation:

A ridge of high pressure dominates the North Island today, but a trough affects the far north. A northwest flow over the South Island strengthens as a trough moves north over the Island today and Sunday. The northwest flow spreads northwards on Monday as the ridge moves away, and an active trough approaches New Zealand from the west, moving over the country during Tuesday.

For Manukau and Waitemata Harbours: Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Partly cloudy. For the Hauraki Gulf, and the area from Bream Head to Cape Colville: Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Cloudy periods, fair visibility in a few showers, mainly north of Whangaparaoa.

Outlook:

Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Variable 5 knots, northeast 10 knots developing in the evening. Partly cloudy. Monday: Northerly 10 knots, rising to 20 knots about the outer Gulf later. Isolated showers. Tuesday: Northerly 20 knots, becoming northwest 20 knots. Rain developing,easing to showers later.

Swell:

Swell forecast to midnight Tuesday: East Coast: Northeast half a metre about the outer Gulf, rising to 1 metre by Sunday, and to northerly 1.5 metres Tuesday.
