A ridge lies over the upper North Island today, while a front weakens and stalls over the lower South Island. Another front moves over the South Island on Sunday, then the North Island on Monday as a ridge builds over the South Island. Yet another front moves up the east coast of the South Island on Tuesday.

Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Southwest 10 knots. Turning northeast 10 knots in the afternoon, but remaining southwest 10 knots about the Manukau Harbour. Cloudy periods,a shower or two. Monday: Southwest rising to 15 knots in the morning. A few showers. Tuesday: Southerly 10 knots, rising to southwest 20 knots in the afternoon. Showers clearing, becoming fine.
