Area Description:

Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

Situation:

A weak ridge lies over the North Island today, while a series of fronts pass up the South Island during today and Friday. These fronts weaken as they cross the North Island on Friday and Saturday,followed by another weak ridge. An active trough approaches the country from the Tasman Sea on Sunday.

For the Manukau and Waitemata Harbours: Thursday: Southwest 15 knots, tending westerly 15 knots this morning, then becoming northwest 10 knots this afternoon. Rising to 15 knots this evening. Sea slight, but choppy when wind opposes tide. Fair visibility in a few showers, mainly from afternoon. For the Hauraki Gulf and the area from Bream Head to Cape Colville: Thursday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to westerly 15 knots in the morning, and becoming northwest 10 knots this afternoon. Rising to 15 knots early this evening and to 20 knots late this evening. Moderate sea easing in the morning and returning in the evening. Cloudy periods, fair visibility in a few showers from afternoon.

Outlook until midnight Sunday: Friday: Northwest 20 knots but 15 knots about the harbours, turning southwest 15 knots everywhere in the afternoon. Rain, easing to isolated showers in the morning. Saturday: Southwest 15 knots, easing to 10 knots later. A few showers, gradually clearing to fine. Sunday: Becoming variable 5 knots early. Northerly 10 knots developing late.Fine.
