A series of weak troughs affect the country over the next few days, along with a front moving north over the South Island on Friday and North Island on Saturday. A significant low deepens east of the country on Sunday, then moves away to the east as a ridge gradually builds over New Zealand.

For the Hauraki Gulf: Friday: Northeast 15 knots. Rising to northeast 20 knots in the afternoon,and to 25 knots gusting 35 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough late this evening.
