Eliza McCartney is likely to know whether her season is over, or still alive, late tomorrow night.
The Olympic medal-winning pole vaulter took an awkward spill during the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham late on Saturday night.
Her left foot has been regularly iced since the incident but the good news is scans detected no break, only heavy bruising on the fat pad of her foot.
She is resting in London ahead of the outcome of more assessment overnight.
High Performance Sport physio was in Birmingham by chance and has checked the state of McCartney's foot.
She has three events left this season, but is likely to sit out the first, a lowkey meeting at Beckum in Germany next weekend.
However McCartney, who has produced three personal best leaps this year and is within 6cm of clearing the 5m barrier, hopes to be competing in the Diamond League final in Zurich on August 30, and at the season-ending Continental Cup teams event in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
