Former minister Rodney Hide is calling for Sir Douglas Graham to be stripped of his knighthood after he and three other directors of failed company Lombard Finance were sentenced for misleading investors.

Graham and Lawrence Bryant were each sentenced to 300 hours of community work and ordered to pay $100,000 reparation.

Another former justice minister, Bill Jeffries, and Michael Reeves were each sentenced to 400 hours of community work.

"Give the guy a break. I am sure Sir Douglas will act honorably IF the case succeeds. A public acting like a lynch mob does nothing for giving people a fair go which I thought NZers were famous for."
  3. Davedog says
"If he just sat back and collected director's fees without ever looking at the risk profile and quality of the loan book then he deserves to be stripped of his knighthood and thrown in jail."
