Two ships carrying nuclear fuel are steaming towards the tiny anti-nuclear protest flotilla lying in wait in the Tasman Sea. The two plutonium-carrying ships, both sailing under the British flag, have been spotted 300 nautical miles southwest of Hobart.
They are headed towards the New Zealand protest flotilla, which is stationed off Lord Howe Island, 770km northeast of Sydney.
The Nuclear-free Tasman Flotilla is made up of seven New Zealand yachts, carrying 39 people aged from 12 to 68 from nine countries. The protesters want shipments of the plutonium fuel through the Tasman Sea stopped.
