Bruce Stadium will have its entire pitch re-turfed, at federal Government expense, in a bid to get the Canberra ground up to scratch to host Olympic football matches.
The grass is so bad that the 11 matches scheduled for Canberra could be shifted to other venues.
New grass was laid at the stadium on August 8. But the grass, grown in tropical Cairns, went into shock when subjected to Canberra's chilly climate.
