Police in Palmerston North are investigating a double murder after the discovery of two bodies in a house in the city.
It is understood the bodies are that of a woman and a child.
Meanwhile in Auckland, the 23 year old daughter of liquor shop owner Shiu Prasad has made an emotional plea for people to help police catch her dad's killer.
Sitanshu Prasad met with reporters this afternoon, a little over 24 hours after Mr Prasad was stabbed at his shop in Mangere.
Ms Prasad says her father rang police with details of the attacker before he died, as he would have wanted the person stopped before anyone else is attacked.
Detective Senior Sergeant Bernie Hollewand says the phone call is a big help.
He says while it raises as many questions as answers it is definitely giving police an indication as to Mr Prasad's attacker.
In Christchurch, police have identified the Godley Head homicide victim as 21-year-old Robert Peter Harman.
And in Taumaranui, police say they will release details of their homicide investigation early this evening.
The body of a woman was found in a house.
