Fiji's military Government has assured Brad Johnstone's Italian rugby side that they will be safe during their Pacific tour this month.
Johnstone, a former All Black prop who coached Fiji for five years before taking on the Italian job last year, said in Rome yesterday that the side had received a written guarantee from the Fijian military heads that their safety would not be in jeopardy.
The Italians, who beat reigning champions Scotland 34-20 in their opening Six Nations match in Rome on February 5, fly to Fiji next Friday for a two-match tour, including a test at Lautoka.
The New Zealand wheelchair rugby side experienced deja-vu when they lost the third test, 29-32, to Australia in Sydney. The Wheel Blacks trail 1-2 in the five-test series, having lost the opening test 30-33 but winning the second 29-27.
