Spiked drinks suspected to have caused mass illness

NSW police investigating how 14 children fell ill at an under-age disco in the state's central west are yet to confirm if their drinks were spiked.

The children were rushed from the Bathurst Panthers Roar Niteclub to Bathurst Hospital on Friday night.

Inspector Gary Megay confirmed a 9-year-old girl was among those who became violently ill with symptoms including vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain. She later had her stomach pumped.

Another police spokesman said it was believed the substance in the drinks was an anti-depressant.
