French hospital colleagues of the mother of murdered girl Maelys de Araujo have donated part of their leave to her — almost three years' worth.
Jennifer de Araujo, a night nurse at a Pontarlier hospital, stopped working when 9-year-old Maelys went missing at a wedding last August.
Her 1300 fellow workers were given a chance to donate their leave while the search was going on.
This week, Maelys' body was found and the main suspect confessed to murder.
The leave donation was organised by the union at de Araujo's workplace.
Union delegate Lydie Lefebvre said de Araujo had been given a total of 572 days.
"This solidarity did not surprise us. We were all very affected last summer when it happened," Lefebvre told France 3 television.
"It will be up to her to decide what she will do with these days, if she wants to gradually resume part-time or take time," she said.
On Wednesday, ex-soldier Nordahl Lelandais, 34, admitted killing Maelys "involuntarily", without giving details.
He agreed to co-operate with the police after tiny traces of her blood were found in the boot of his Audi car. Both were guests at a wedding in the eastern town of Pont-de-Beauvoisin.
