A US man charged with impregnating an 11-year-old girl has denied the charges and says she might have raped him instead.
The 38-year-old man from Springfield, Massachusetts, is being held on $50,000 bail and has pleaded not guilty to forcible child rape.
According to prosecutors, he initially told police the girl had been sexually abused by a relative. However, after hearing about the girl's pregnancy, the man said it is possible she might have raped him while he slept.
According to the Republican, a local newspaper, the pregnancy was aborted and DNA tests performed on the foetal tissue are now pending.
