Kuwait Cabinet submits resignation after parliament vote

KUWAIT CITY (AP) " Kuwait's prime minister has submitted his Cabinet's resignation following parliamentary elections in the tiny Gulf nation.

The move Monday by Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah is a procedural step under Kuwaiti law. A new Cabinet must be formed before a new elected parliament is inaugurated.

Kuwait's ruling emir can either appoint the same prime minister or issue an order to appoint a new prime minister, who will in turn be tasked with forming his Cabinet. The order for forming a new Cabinet is expected within days.

Kuwaitis elected their representatives in the 50-seat parliament on Saturday. The results saw the return of several prominent opposition figures but only one woman.
