Danish center-right 'three-leaf clover' coalition in place

HELSINKI (AP) " Denmark's new center-right government, dubbed the "three-leaf clover" coalition, has taken office while still working to resolve disagreements over policy.

After naming the 22-member Cabinet on Monday, Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said the center-right coalition "doesn't agree on everything," but that a three-party government was the strongest base to benefit all Danes.

Rasmussen said he had reached agreement Sunday with the center-right Liberal-Alliance and the Conservative Party to form a Cabinet that would give it a better chance to carry out policies, after 17 months of leading a single-party government.

Since June 2015, Rasmussen's Liberal Party, with 34 seats in the 179-member Parliament, was able to stay in power with the support of the two smaller parties and the anti-immigration, populist Danish People's Party.
