Youths clash with Greek police in Athens student protest

ATHENS, Greece (AP) " Greek riot police have fired tear gas to disperse dozens of students who threw petrol bombs and rocks during a protest in Athens.

No arrests or injuries were reported from Monday's clashes.

Police say about a thousand protesters took part in the student demonstration demanding more public funding for education.

A small group of young people threw petrol bombs at police guarding the Hellenic Parliament. Dozens of youths then entered a university building and threw stones at riot police from there.

The protesters also set fire to garbage bins, closing a central Athens avenue to motorists for hours.
