Heroin addicts filmed for Facebook Live rather than helped

A couple passed out on a footpath were laughed at and filmed for social media by members of the public rather than helped.

The couple, who were high on heroin, took the drug in a chemist bathroom in Memphis, according to police.

WREG reported that a driver spotted the pair and pulled over to observe the scene.

A crowd had gathered with many laughing and taking pictures, and the driver streamed the events using Facebook Live.

Facebook user Courtland Garner said he had no regrets about posting a video of the couple online.

"What they were doing was children things. It was a spectacle. It made me laugh.

"When kids see that video, you know what they are going to say? I don't want to look stupid like that I don't want to do those drugs."

The couple were taken to hospital in a non-critical condition.
