NEW YORK (AP) " A Mexican man has pleaded guilty in New York City for his role in an international drug smuggling operation.
Salvador Jimenez Uribe entered his plea Wednesday in a federal courthouse in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors say that the 50-year-old Uribe imported and sold hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and thousands of kilograms of marijuana from Mexico to the U.S.
They say the Guadalajara, Mexico, resident also laundered millions of dollars from the sales.
Defense attorney Samuel Gregory called Uribe polite and respectful. He says his client accepted the charges against him and decided to plead guilty rather than face a jury.
Authorities say Uribe conspired to smuggle the drugs to the U.S. from 2007 to 2008 and from 2012 and 2015.
